Position Objective
The Enterprise Solution Architecture Manager oversees the development and assessment of enterprise solution architectures for the IS division. Services include candidate solution architecture design and estimating, buy vs. build recommendations, solution architecture standards development and governance, and solution architecture consulting. Working with IS stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs), the Enterprise Solution Architecture Manager ensures that all architectural aspects of the solution, including data, application, infrastructure, and security are addressed.
Primary Accountabilities
- Enterprise Solution Architecture (40%)
- Oversees the development of holistic candidate solution architectures, ensuring that all architectural aspects of the system, including data, application, infrastructure, and security are addressed.
- Oversees the architecture assessment of all technical projects to ensure they conform to established standards and identify all architectural variances.
- Oversees the development and maintenance of the process to document, evaluate and authorize solution architectural standards, patterns, and variance requests.
- Provides assistance and expertise to department staff and others with regards to technical architecture questions and issues.
- Management/Leadership for Department or Unit (30%)
- Manages direct reports, systems, and projects to achieve department/unit goals in accordance with Company policies and practices.
- Prepares and analyzes department/unit plans and reports.
- Provides leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise, thus affecting the results of the operating area.
- Creates an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance, and maintaining open communications.
- Develops staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments, and establishing performance & development plans.
- Strong Customer Relationships with Key Business Areas (20%)
- Builds an internal network with peers and clients to learn their planning needs from their perspective.
- Understands how individual I/S units relate to each other and their customers.
- Partners with planning resources from other divisions to foster standardization of planning processes and deliverables.
- Strategies Linked to the Division's Business Goals/Results (10%)
- Establishes, communicates, and implements departmental plans, objectives, and strategies.
- Participates as a member of the Management Team.
- Maintains an active awareness of American Family's business environments, corporate culture, and structure to support key decision-making.

- Basic knowledge and understanding of project portfolio management methodologies and practices.
- Demonstrated experience in translating business needs into technical architecture requirements.

- Extensive knowledge and understanding of technical facilitation and coordinating skills.
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise solution architecture planning methodologies and practices.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of a variety of IT disciplines including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management, and operations.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of application development and related technologies.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of the technical infrastructure.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of governance structures and processes.
