Position Details:

Prefer experience with enterprise technology strategy and reference architecture development for emerging technology trends such as cloud computing, IaaS, PaaS, and storage virtualization. Also desire experience managing a technology portfolio and developing technology roadmaps. Position requires strong communication skills, familiarity with enterprise architecture methodologies and enterprise modeling.

Position Objective
The Enterprise Architect leads the planning and definition of enterprise wide technology strategies for the I/S division. In collaboration with other architects and specialists, they are responsible for analyzing business and technology trends, developing technology strategies for addressing trends, and developing conceptual future state principles, models and roadmaps to provide guidance for enterprise solutions and IT planning efforts. Their primary goal is to help provide strategic focus and consistency across the enterprise architecture to achieve enterprise business goals.


Primary Accountabilities
- Enterprise Architecture Planning (40%)
- Uses inputs from business leaders and external research to identify business and technology trends that may have impact to American Family`s enterprise IT architecture.
- Works with business unit leaders and subject matter experts to build a holistic view of the organization's strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets.
- Analyzes architecture portfolios (applications, information, and/or technology) to assess opportunities for improvement and identify changes needed to meet strategic business needs.
- Develops architecture strategies (statements of position/direction, principles, reference architectures, etc.) that align to the company's business strategy and influence enterprise technology directions.
- Organizes technology strategies into integrated roadmaps to guide initiative planning, scheduling, and funding.
- Assess the fit of business and technology project proposals that have architecturally significant components with existing strategic roadmaps.
- Develops policies, standards, and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation, and use of technology within the organization.

- Enterprise Architecture Consulting (20%)
- Participates in application and technology selection for enterprise solutions.
- Consults on the development of enterprise solution architectures to resolve enterprise architecture issues and ensure alignment with enterprise future state direction.
- Participates in the development of standards to ensure enterprise alignment and cohesiveness.
- Ensures projects do not duplicate functionality or diverge from established strategies.

- Enterprise Architecture Modeling (20%)
- Develops enterprise-level conceptual models and reports to visualize current and future state enterprise architecture.
- Uses models and architectural frameworks to indentify key relationships and gaps between business objectives, processes, and systems.
- Participates in the management and configuration of the EA repository tool.

- Enterprise Architecture Communication (20%)
- Develops communication plans and strategies to build awareness of strategic directions.
- Builds a network of stakeholders to foster collaboration on architecture directions.
- Actively communicates with stakeholders to drive awareness and understanding of architecture roadmaps and directions.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements
- Basic knowledge and understanding of enterprise architecture methods, artifacts, and tools.
- Demonstrated experience communicating and influencing at all levels of the organization from technical IT staff to business executives.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating complex or contentious issues, reaching consensus, and working through people to achieve goals.
- Demonstrated experience performing analysis related to technology strategy at an organizational level.
- Demonstrated experience working across a broad range of information technology domains, including application, data, infrastructure, and security domains with expertise in one or more domains.
- Demonstrated experiencing developing architectural models to communicate complex subjects in a clear and informative way to varying audiences.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of business strategy development, business architecture, and business models as they relate to technology strategy development.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of enterprise architecture styles, including Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web and mobile architectures, client/server architecture, business intelligence architectures, messaging and integration architectures, and legacy/mainframe architecture.
