Position Details
I/S Business Intelligence GIS. Our mission is to work in partnership with our business to provide accurate, consistent, accessible, and comprehensive GIS data, GIS infrastructure, and GIS services to support the unique business needs of American Family Insurance. We support over 50 java applications, GIS ad-hoc mapping, GIS ad-hoc data requests, policy rate changes, Reinsurance, National Change of Address, and geocoding.
Responsibilities:
Desktop mapping
Spatial analytics
Self-service mapping
Geo data discovery
Preferred Qualifications
Working towards a degree in Geographic Information Systems.
Proficiency with ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop.
Proficiency with ESRI’s ArcGIS Online (creation & administration of AGOL maps).
Knowledge of broader spatial analytic methodologies.
Knowledge of BING, Google, or other mapping API’s.

Position Objective
The student intern works under the direction of a senior level employee or manager to complete projects or tasks that support the business area goals and results. Performs tasks by adapting to new or changing situations in a team environment. Gathers information, plans and organizes work efficiently and effectively. Applies and learns technical skills appropriate to the specific job assignment.
Primary Accountabilities
- Supports Division`s Business Goals/Results (100%)
- Begins to develop an understanding of American Family`s business environments, corporate culture and structure to support work initiatives.
- Maintains work efficiency and responds positively to a changing environment.
- Is open to and supports new ideas, systems and procedures. Generates creative ideas and actions in response to changing situations.
- Promptly adjusts strategies or tactics in situations where the current approaches are ineffective.
